Thanks to the outpouring of support from skaters and food lovers alike, we have raised $760 from Bake Sale For A2A as of last night. I am deeply appreciative of your generosity and hope you’ll enjoy the cookies and jams. What’s even more exciting is that a final decision has been made by the race organizers and the 30th Anniversary Athens To Atlanta will be held on October 9, 2011 as originally scheduled!
The good news doesn’t end here. Soon after I deposited your donations, I continue to receive more orders. We are now past the $900 mark! Once I sort out the numbers, I will make a second donation to ensure your support goes directly to the race as soon as possible. I am touched by everyone’s involvement and enthusiasm.
The first delivery of cookies is due this weekend at 24h Roller Montreal. This is one of the largest skating events in North America. Between Sunday 2pm to Labour Day Monday 2pm, I’ll be hanging out with upwards of 800 skaters at Montreal’s F1 race track in Parc Jean Drapeau. I predict there will be lots of skating and lots of cookie munching! Here is a sneak peak of what you can expect to find in the cookie assortment:
- Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Peanut Butter Cookies with Milk Chocolate Chunks
- Chewy Sugar Cookies
- Oatmeal Cherry Nut Cookies
- Ginger Molasses Cookies
- Cornmeal Lemon Cookies
- Brewer's Blondies
- BAKED Bars
Over the next few days, I’ll be elbow deep in flour and butter and sugar. I’ll try to post short updates at Dessert By Candy but if things are atypically quiet around here, you know what I’m doing!
Once again, on behalf of all the skaters participating in this year’s A2A, thank you for making this happen.
